The National Emergency Co-Ordination Group will meet this morning ahead of the arrival of Storm Jorge.
A yellow rainfall warning is in place for all of Munster and Connacht, along with Co Donegal.
And three separate wind warnings will affect the entire country on Saturday, when the storm arrives.
Cathal Nolan, from Ireland's Weather Channel, says large amounts of rain are expected.
