The National Emergency Coordination Group is meeting again today to monitor the severe weather.
It's expected to meet every day this coming week, to discuss how to manage the arctic blast which will last until Friday.
The group is ''confident'' schools and public transport will stay open.
An orange warning for ice / low temperatures and freezing fog for the whole country is in place until midday, there's also a yellow warning for snow and ice in Donegal and Mayo. .
The Road Safety Authority is warning motorists to be very careful on the roads this morning as Ireland is still gripped by below sub-zero temperatures.
There's dense and freezing fog in many parts of the country which is reducing visibility on the roads.
Motorists are being advised to use their fog lights in affected areas, but to make sure to turn them off when conditions clear.
Brian Farrell from the RSA also warned of tailgaiting.
"The message we've been giving, is to slow down and that really is important so that you can prevent a skid losing traction on ice and black ice.
"When it comes to those fog and freezing fog conditions, it really is so important that we slow down and don't drive on the taillights of the vehicle in front because this can give you a false sense of security."
