Job cuts at Accenture have been described as "inevitable".
The professional services company announced yesterday that it's letting go 890 workers at its Irish operation.
Many of the firm's 6 thousand 500 staff are outsourced for tech giants like Meta and Microsoft.
In 2021 Accenture announced the creation of 500 new jobs over three years in Cork and the wider Munster region.
The Irish Independent's Tech Editor, Adrian Weckler says the cuts are Accenture can be traced back to the recent instability in the tech sector.
"Accenture is actually one of the biggest IT and tech services companies in Ireland, one of the biggest multinationals working here.
"So it was inevitable that when the belt started to be tightened on tech jobs in Ireland in general, that Accenture, while not disproportionally hit because it's only about 14% of jobs affected, but it's inevitable that it was going to be affected."
