People living beside the sea may have to say goodbye to their homes and businesses in the years ahead, according to a new government report.
'Managed retreat' away from the sea is being considered, as part of 'high level risk management' policy options.
The approach is contained in a new National Coastal Change Management Strategy report.
The government says such ideas are being considered due to changing weather patterns as a result of climate change, and the estimated sea level rise of up to one metre by the year 2100.
