New grant schemes have been launched for electric vehicles.
There will be a new scheme to give access to chargers for people who live in apartments.
A new trial for electric commercial vehicles has been launched and people will now be able to apply for a charger grant even if they don't have an electric car.
Head of the new agency 'Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland', Aoife O'Grady, explains why it will be useful:
"The grant doesn't cover the full cost, it covers 50% of the cost. I think it's very unlikely that anyone is going to shell out €600 of their own money unless there's a reason for having a home charger there. What we're thinking about is people who know they have an electric vehicle coming, maybe it's delayed. They want to get the home charger in so when it arrives, it's ready to go. So it's easing up there so they can move quickly on a home charger installation."
