New Measures Being Taken By The RSA To Reduce To Driving Test Backlog

New figures from the RSA have revealed that anyone applying for their test at the moment could face a wait of up to 7 months.

The increase in waiting time from 6 weeks to anywhere up to 30 weeks is largely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which shut the driving test service entirely for over 4 months.

Since resuming tests in July, the service has been functioning at 75%, creating a backlog that the RSA say will likely not reduce until the middle of 2021.

Here in Cork, over 3200 people are waiting for a driving test in the City Centre, while 1,054 tests have been scheduled.

Speaking to RedFM News Spokesperson for the RSA Brian Farrell says for now, the backlog is here to stay:
