A new obesity drug approved for use in Ireland is not for everyone.
That's according to the HSE clinical lead on obesity who says Wegovy is exciting and will help many people.
The weekly injection has been used to treat type 2 diabetes for over a decade.
But Dr. Donal O'Shea says despite its positive benefits, it needs to be targeted at those who really need it:
"You can be healthy at any ways, and you can have lots of complications. If you're, you know, people will have sleep apnoea and type two diabetes, and their BMI will be maybe 30 or 35. And people will have a body mass index of 40 and not have type two diabetes or not have sleep apnoea and they won't need this treatment."
