Students who play forward for their school's rugby teams have the highest rate of injuries, even when compared with adult players, according to a new study.

Research by the University of Limerick in today's Sunday Times shows schoolboys suffer far more shoulder injuries than professional players.

Forwards are also twice as likely to get injured as the backs on their team, with concussions and head injuries three times more likely for numbers 1 to 8.
