The next European Parliament must push member states to abolish the changing of the clocks.
MEPs voted in favour of removing daylight saving time permanently in 2019, however without the European Commission's support it has no legal standing.
Momentum for the proposal was then lost during the pandemic.
Ireland South MEP, Seán Kelly told RedFM News that MEPs must work to get each member state on board with the proposal:
"Some member states wanted summertime. Some member states wanted winter time. They couldn't agree. So you need time just to work out the logistics. Over 85% said they'd like to end clock change, and 85% of respondents actually wanted summertime".
