The National Transport Authority has confirmed there will be an extension of licenses for older taxis.
Under the extension any vehicle due to reach its age limit in 2020 will now be eligible to remain on the road until 2025, and any Taxi due to expire in 2024 will benefit from an eligibility extension.
Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond says the decision will allow up to 3,750 Taxis to remain in the industry, but warns more needs to be done to meet the increasing demands of the public.
