Coral organisms found about a kilometre underwater off the coast of Ireland could be key to stopping Covid 19.
Researchers at NUI Galway have discovered a compound inside the so-called 'cauliflower coral' that hampers the virus's ability to replicate.
The researchers, with a group from the University of South Florida are trying to figure out if the compound can be used as treatment.
It comes just after the World Health Organisation warned that the pandemic is nowhere near over.
