One in six people are waiting over three months for a dental appointment.
A survey from the Irish Dental Association shows more than half of patients are being forced to wait longer than three months for specialist care.
It comes as members voted no confidence in the Minister for Health and Department of Health officials at the association's pre-conference AGM, which took place last week.
Irish Dental Association President Eamon Croke says there are ongoing issues facing the sector:
"We've just lost total patience. There's been no engagement. Everybody accepts, including Ministers, that there's a crisis in delivery of oral health care. And nobody seems to want to talk to dentists about how the matter can be resolved".
