Only three complaints were made to the Irish Film Classification Office last year.

It came during a time when cinemas were closed for long periods due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

IFCO has received nine complaints over the past two years, ranging from complaints of violence to refusal of admission at cinemas.

The statutory body oversees the certification of over a thousand cinema releases a year.
