207 people were admitted to hospital due to obesity issues last year.
According to freedom of information figures, almost 60% were male.
26 were children under the age of 16, while 113 were over 45.
Susie Birney is the executive director for the Irish Coalition for People Living with Obesity, she says the condition has several impacts:
"Some of the conditions associated with obesity are well known in the likes of type two diabetes and heart disease but there's quite a few that aren't commonly spoken about and you have the likes of polycystic ovarian syndrome, sleep apnea, endometrial cancer also has quite a high prevalence in people who have obesity."
