Over 43,000 passengers are set to pass through the terminal at Cork Airport over the bank holiday weekend.

Tomorrow is expected to be the busiest day with over 8,000 passengers flying in and out of the airport ahead of the Cork Jazz Festival.

The terminal will be hosting jazz bands over the weekend and passengers are being encouraged to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their flight is due to board.

The passenger number represents a 95% recovery compared the same weekend before the pandemic.

Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport Barry Holland says they are glad to see that winter will be busy:

"So the Winter schedule kicks off this weekend. Over 1.1 million seats will be available across 27 routes served by five airlines. Earlier this week we launched the Rome route, which would be an immensely popular route for passengers across Munster but also that it will be very important for inbound Italian tourists coming to Cork or the south of Ireland for holiday."
