According to freedom of information files, over 50 Irish GP practices received over half a million euro each for treating medical card patients last year.
Over 2,900 GPs got a total of €589 million in 2019.
The highest earning individual practice was Dr Austin O'Carroll's in Dublin, at €974,000.
But he says that's not an accurate reflection of how much he got:
