36% of people working in childcare are actively seeking to leave the sector, a new report has found.
The Early Years Staffing and Pay Survey, conducted by Siptu, found 38% of managers found it difficult to hire and recruit staff due to low pay and conditions.
Over 2,100 people took part in the survey which was carried out in late March.
Darragh O'Connor, Siptu's head of strategic organising and campaigns, says stress and burnout is impacting people working in the sector.
"The impact on that means that they're struggling to maintain their staff/child ratio, it means that there's extra workload put on to the remaining staff as well.
"There's an increase of stress and burnout amongst people working in the sector."
