The Finance Minister has defended the Government's budget strategy in the face of rampant inflation.
Ministers have been appearing before an Oireachtas Committee to set out plans for September's budget.
They have said targeted measures will be brought in to help those hit worst by the rising cost of living.
Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe was asked whether he still thinks not holding an emergency budget was the right call:
"So I believe the budgetary strategy the government has outlined is the appropriate one. Of course I'm absolutely aware of the cost and difficulty that many are facing across the summer period."
