The Passport Service has today issued it's one millionth passport in 2022.
This is the first time more than a million have been issued inside a calendar year.
The Foreign Affairs Minister says turn-around times have been halved from about 40 days back in March, to about 20 now.
Simon Coveney is advising anyone wishing to go abroad next year, who needs a new passport, to apply as early as possible.
