Patients waiting on specialist care are being encouraged to look at European States.
That's the advice from the Irish Patients Association.
There are over 903,000 people on some form of hospital waiting list, according to figures released yesterday.
Stephen McMahon from The Irish Patients Association says other arrangements need to be made:
"The numbers are so large, and there are so many patients, the quality of their life and, indeed risk to their quality of life can be such that we would now encourage people to talk to their GP or indeed their consultant, with a view to getting their treatment in another European member state, be it in France, Spain, Portugal, and try to see if that can be arranged for them".
