Paul Hyde has resigned from An Bord Pleanála.
The Department of Housing has confirmed that the Deputy Chairman of the State's planning appeals body has stepped down.
It follows controversy over a number of planning decisions which has sparked a series of inquiries.
Mr Hyde, originally an architect based in Cork, has denied any conflict of interest.
