People applying for positions on State Boards are being asked to sign a declaration that there is nothing controversial on their social media.
The Irish Independent reports that the Public Appointments Service is asking for a self-declaration, that there is nothing on the public record or social media, that could negatively impact their appointment.
The service has hired a company to carry out pre-employment checks.
It comes after controversial twitter posts lead the Minister Eamon Ryan to cancel appointing a proposed chairman of the Shannon Group earlier this year.
