People are being urged to open up their homes and take in students for the academic year ahead.
Homeowners can make 14-thousand euro a year, tax free, by offering up spare rooms.
The scheme is expected to grow as the ongoing housing crisis continues to impact students.
People Before Profit's Gino Kenny says this will free up accommodation on college grounds:
"Because obviously there's a huge issue at the moment in relation to student accommodation. Some students have to travel vast distances to get to college to obviously this kind of makes it easier for students to ascertain accommodation that's kind of relatively near educational college and that could free up capacity in relation to student accommodation on campus."
