With less than 24 hours remaining before a status yellow high temperature warning for Leinster and Munster takes effect a warning has been issued to remind people of the dangers of swimming in open water.
People are also being warned not be over confident in the water and to know their own limits.
Roger Sweeney, acting CEO of Water Safety Ireland, has reiterated the dangers of swimming in our seas, lakes and rivers or any location without lifeguards on duty.
"Can you make an effort to get to a lifeguarded waterway? They make hundreds of rescues every year, and they're there for you.
"And if not, can you get to a place that is known locally by locals to be a safe place to swim?
"And when you do get there, swim within your depth, so if you do get into difficulty you can put your feet down."
