The Electoral Commission is urging people to check the register, to ensure they’re registered to vote in the upcoming General Election.

The deadline to register is next Tuesday, the 12th November.

In Ireland, over 6 point 7 million votes have been cast in national referendums and elections so far this year.

CEO of the Electoral Commission, Art O'Leary, says it only takes a few minutes:

"The easiest and quickest way to do it is to go on to checktheregister.ie, two minutes and fifty seven seconds later, you'll all be done. We would encourage people to do it today. In the time that it takes a kettle to boil, you can get yourself registered to vote in the Election on the 29th of November"
