A protest outside the Tanaiste’s home in Dublin has been described as ‘vile’.
A video has circulated of the small demonstration on social media, where homophobic language can be heard.
Politicians from across the divide have condemned the protest, which happened outside Leo Varadkar’s home in Dublin 8 yesterday lunchtime.
Fine Gael TD Neale Richmond says it wasn’t a protest but ‘a vile act of intimidation’.
"There's certainly a level of concern, particularly amongst our family members, let alone ourselves.
"I think it's something that we need to reflect on as a society more widely in the way we talk to each other and the way we condemn our political leaders, and to remember that our words do have consequences."
