The President has expressed his sadness at the death of Jim Fahy, who he says was one of Ireland's finest broadcasters.
Jim was RTE's Western Correspondent for 38 years, having also worked as a documentary maker and print journalist previously.
Michael D Higgins says the broadcaster has created work that will be looked upon by future generations.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin also paid tribute, saying Jim had a 'distinct voice and an eye for a story.'
