A prisoner is in a serious condition in hospital after being attacked in Mountjoy Prison in Dublin.
It happened on Monday evening.
The prisoner, who is in his 30s, has been under a protected regime at Mountjoy Jail - because of previous threats from inmates.
On Monday evening he was in the exercise yard when he was attacked and stabbed.
He has been taken to a hospital in the city where his condition is described as serious.
Gardai say investigations are ongoing,
