A new survey found three quarters of people check their phones within 30 minutes of waking up.
Deloitte's Digital Consumer Trends report for 2021, also found 29 per cent check their phones more than 50 times a day.
Psychotherapist and owner of Maynooth Counselling, Helen Vaughan, has these tips for cutting down:
"Tracking your overall usage, switching off things like notifications and especially the sounds that go with notifications that if you're busy doing something and then a notification makes a noise, it's very hard to ignore it and not check it. You know, start to put limits on some of those things so that it's not always interrupting you when you're going about your business but you look at it when you want to."
