The public's concern is mounting over the cost-of-living crisis.
The Ireland Thinks opinion poll in today's Sunday Independent reveals that 37 per cent of people say they will be unable to pay soaring energy costs this winter.
39 per cent say they will have to cut back on other costs to afford their increased bills.
The charity Alone says over 100,000 older people could face difficulty with food and heating this winter.
It's chief executive, Sean Moynihan, says we need targeted interventions:
"Especially for older people living on their own or older people totally reliant on the state or small, private pensions. They're already making cutbacks. There's around 100,000 older people that really could face real difficulty heating and food this winter".
