Infectious Disease Consultant, Eoghan DeBarra, says it'll take time for the numbers to fall.
"It's a slow process of numbers coming down.
"I think we'll see continued pressure on the health service, I think we'll see continued pressure on staffing levels in many sectors.
"However I think this too will pass, as other waves have, and in many ways given vaccination rates, given the levels of preparedness, given the compliance of the population this isn't as bad as previous waves."
