The Continental Tyre Company has urged the public not to burn tyres on bonfires this Halloween.
It says the practice is illegal and also releases toxic fumes that can hurt both humans and animals.
The company says the only safe way to burn tyres presently is inside a cement kiln which has a sophisticated filtration system.
The company also added that tyres can be recycled in a number of ways.
