There were more mortgages approved this April than in any April since records began.
The Banking and Payments Federation says almost 4,400 were given the go-ahead - with 55 per cent involving first-time buyers.
The total figure increased by less than 1 per cent on March.
B-P-F-I chief executive, Brian Hayes, says there's been a much sharper increase over the past year.
"When you compare the mortgage approvals of this year to the mortgage approvals of April last year at the start of the pandemic, it's effectively doubled in the 12 month period.
"That shows that the comparison of the first lockdown to the latest lockdown is totally different."
