60% of women say they've been verbally harassed at night.

A new survey finds nearly 9 in 10 women feel uncomfortable walking alone after dark, while 13% say they've been attacked.

More than one in three report having been followed while walking home.

Director of the National Women's Council of Ireland, Orla O'Connor, says Ireland needs a conversation on consent.

"We need a much wider understanding of consent within our society.

"We need to have that national conversation about consent, and to reduce our tolerance - because there is a tolerance - about non consensual activity.

"We need to start that in our primary schools, our secondary schools, and through to third level."
