There has been a three fold increase in residential development commencements in the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year.
That's according to the latest report from accountants Deloitte.
It also found a shift in focus on office development to areas outside of Dublin.
Head of Deloitte Real Estate Advisory, John Doddy, said the news is positive so far, but the overlying trend won't be clear until later this year.
"It's positive news for the residential sector in quarter two, but its a bounce back in activity after sites reopened in May after covid.
"Site commencements are actually 68% up on quarter one, but we'll have to wait until we get to quarter three to see what the underlying trend is."
