Revenue Seize €53,000 Of Smuggled Cigarettes And Tobacco At Cork and Dublin Airports

The discoveries were made between Friday and yesterday.

Officers discovered over 26,000 cigarettes at Cork Airport yesterday in the carry-on baggage of a Polish national who arrived from Katowice.

The 'Marlboro Gold', 'Pall Mall' and 'LD' branded cigarettes had an estimated retail value of over €18,300 and represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of €14,600.

On Friday officers at Dublin Airport stopped a British national who had travelled from Spain and seized over 57 kilos of tobacco from their checked baggage with an estimated retail value of €35,000
