Rogue motorists were caught speeding by up 47 kilometres per hour above the speed limit - in the past 24 hours.
They were among 592 vehicles caught by Gardaí as part of National Slow Down Day.
Some of the worst drivers recorded were going 146km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N71 Cork-Clonakilty Road, near the turn-off for Waterfall ---- and 77km/h in a 50km/h Zone on the Cork-Limerick Road, near Mallow.
Another driver was caught going 126km/h in a 100km/h Zone on the N25 near Ballyadam.
National Slow Down Day came to a close at 7am this morning but Gardaí are continuing to appeal to drivers to drive within the speed limit - in order to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, road deaths and injuries, this Christmas.
