It's 'absolutely absurd' to be looking for Paschal Donohoe's head, for the failure to disclose less than a thousand euro.
That's the view of Former Transport Minister Shane Ross, who says Minister Donohoe is 'not a plotter' but admitted he should have adhered to the rules.
The Public Expenditure Minister today faces a questions and answers session in the Dáil, after he failed to properly account for spending in the 2016 General Election.
Shane Ross doesn't think his position should be in question over the controversy, but does believe he should face some sort of a penalty.
"Of course he should have adhered to the rules, and of course there should be some sort of penalty to any TD that doesn't adhere to the rules, that's why they're thre.
"It would be absolutely absurd if it's as minor as it appears to be, which is the sin of omission, and we're talking about money less than €1,000, it would be absurd to be looking for his head when he's such a pivotal figure in Government."
