There's a call on the government to double funding towards homeless prevention in the Budget.
The Simon Communities of Ireland also wants 5,000 vacant properties brought back into the market through the Repair and Lease Scheme for rough sleepers.
Spokesperson, Wayne Stanley says councils must free up empty homes to provide housing for people:
"So the big ticket item on our on our request is that the government ramp up the repair and lease scheme which will give local authorities the capacity to bring that vacant property that currently available in the system into the public housing system and provide homes for people are at risk of experiencing homelessness."
