Simon Coveney will complete a speech in Belfast today that was cut short when a hoax bomb threat was called in seven months ago.
The Foreign Affairs Minister had to be rushed out of the Houben Centre on the Crumlin road in March.
Today's event will see Minister Coveney discuss the future of the island with independent unionist Clair Sugden.
Tim Attwood of the John and Pat Hume Foundation, says the island needs more engagement like this to hear concerns from both sides.
"I think it's vitally important given the uncertainty politically at the moment, that we continue to encourage those types of conversations today.
"There's obviously genuine concerns from within the Unionist community about the protocol, we have to understand that and we have to try to navigate a way forward."
