The Minister for Foreign Affairs is in Ukraine today ahead of a meeting of the UN Security Council next week.
Simon Coveney will meet with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, to get an update on the war and territorial gains against Russia in recent days.
Minister Coveney will also visit the port city of Odessa, where grain shipments have resumed through the Black Sea.
Speaking as he crossed the Palanca border between Moldova and Ukraine, Simon Coveney says food security is a key item on his agenda:
"We are visiting Odessa today, we have an opportunity to to meet Minister Calabria, the Ukrainian foreign minister to get an update on the war. We're also going to get a briefing from the UN in Odessa on the Black Sea Grain initiative which is working on getting grain out of the port to other parts of the world which is vitally needed."
