Sinn Féin is calling for a winter ban on evictions, due to the number of people homeless.
Figures released yesterday show over 10,800 people accessed emergency accommodation last month.
Dublin accounts for around 70 per cent of all people experiencing homelessness in Ireland.
Eoin Ó Broin, Sinn Féin's housing spokesperson, says the housing minister needs to act immediately:
"This is a week where the government announced a budget with not a single extra measure, to either prevent single people or families from becoming homeless, or to get people out of emergency accommodation. We need the Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien to intervene now. We need a winter ban on evictions, as they've recently introduced in Scotland. Otherwise we're going to see month on month increases for the remainder of this year".
