Sinn Féin's proposal for an emergency budget will be voted on in the Dáil tonight.
The government last night opposed the motion, and put forward its own counter-motion.
They'll both be voted on this evening, with Sinn Féin calling for an urgent intervention in the cost-of-living crisis.
But Junior Finance Minister, Sean Fleming, says the government won't intervene until October's Budget.
"It's well known the budgetary process for Budget 2023 is now well underway.
"The national economic dialogue took place last week, and the summer economic statement will be published in the coming weeks.
"The normal budgetary process is the best and most responsible framework for policy discussions on this matter."
