SIPTU is to stage protests at three main hospitals in Dublin, Limerick and Galway today over what it says has been a major insult by the Government.
Its 5,000 members in the health sector were promised one thousand euro as a special Covid 19 recognition payment on behalf of the State, however the money hasn't been paid.
The protests will take place outside Beaumont Hospital Dublin, University Hospital Limerick both at 11am and the Nurses' Home at Galway University Hospital at 2.15
SIPTU regional organiser in Galway, Mary Mullins, says "Doctor Leo Varadkar" is showing no respect whatsoever for his colleagues in the medical profession.
"The reason why we're adamant about hitting sites on this day is that we find ourselves fighting for the pandemic recognition payment, which Taoiseach Varadkar promised over 18 months ago, which these workers still have not received.
"Where is the respect in that?"
