An Oireachtas Committee has been forced to cancel its meeting, after some of the world’s largest social media companies rejected the invite.
TDs and Senators were hoping to speak to the media giants in relation to the long term vision for the media sector.
Meta described the topic as "quite vague" and declined the invite.
Business Editor, Joe Lynam, explains why TikTok and Twitter won't be attending either.
"TikTok's Susan Moss, when writing to decline the invitation, said that they had made a number of submissions to previous investigations from the committee, and would not be adding to their submissions in this case.
"Twitter didn't even respond."
