All soft plastics, those you can scrunch in your hand, can be placed in household recycling bins from this week.
Soft plastics include sweet and crisp wrappers, bubble wrap, plastic labels and plastic wrap on products.
Bin companies will accept them once they're "clean, dry and loose".
This new development comes as Irish recycling facilities have had advancements in technology to enable them to deal with these types of plastics from now on.
It's part of efforts to stop sending large amounts overseas to be processed and the burning of plastic.
Soft plastics account for around 160,000 tonnes of plastic waste in Ireland every year.
