Special schools are finalising their plans ahead of their reopen this week.

In-class learning will resume at the schools for the first time since Christmas from tomorrow.

However there'll only be 50% attendance and students will be in on alternate days.

Principal of Scoil Mochua in Clondalkin in Dublin, Vivian Wynne, says a lot of work has gone into safety measures.

"We had to review our health and safety risk assessment so that the main areas such as PPE, cleaning, ventilation guidelines etc. are being adhered to.

"Then there was also new flexible arrangements for staff who are over 60, those who are pregnant and those who are in the high risk category.

"There has been a lot of work to ensure all that's in place."
