Tonight's sky will be lit up by a supermoon, which sees Earth's nearest neighbour stray as close as it can to our blue planet.
The moon will appear larger and brighter than usual, bringing out the inner astronomer of those otherwise uninterested.
Astronomy Ireland editor, David Moore, says conditions should be clear, but even some bad weather won't conceal the beauty of the phenomenon:
"The great thing about the full moon is it is the brightest thing in the sky apart from the sun, so if there's even a tiny break in the clouds it will be seen. The Supermoon will actually look almost as good tomorrow night, though it won't rise till 11.10pm. It looked almost as good last night and I was out taking pictures of it, a few clouds rolled in, but they actually added to the effect because the moonlight lit up the clouds as well as the landscape."
