One of Ireland's leading charities says people will be in desperate need of financial help in the new year.
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is currently dealing with 800 calls for help every day.
As we approach Christmas, the charity is appealing for donations to help those in need.
Rose McGowan, SVP's national president, says while government supports in the Budget were welcome, they didn't go far enough.
"I wouldn't say that they haven't helped, but things have gone up so much. People were already in debt.
"We're hugely worried now the next two months but we're really worried about the new year. Are we going to get more top ups in the new year? I don't know. But people definitely need them."
