450 calls were made to Saint Vincent De Paul on a single day last month.
It comes as more and more parents worry about getting their kids back to school and the financial impact it will have on their families.
SVP have invited the public to participate in an online survey and have their say on what areas need to be prioritised in the upcoming Budget.
Research and Policy Officer Niamh Dalziel (Dee-Ell) says long term solutions are needed.
"Things are being put in place, like support for school uniform costs, and we're being really supportive for those who are entitled to it.
"We want to see more permanent, long term, thought out policies from the government this year, including expanding free school books to all students in primary and secondary school."
